What are differences between fiberglass (FRP) and aluminum RIBs?

RIBs from many manufacturers give you a choice in hull material. FRP boats allow the molding in of such features as seats and lockers which give the boat a very nice, finished look. FRP hulls are somewhat less abrasion resistant, so one must consider if the hull will be run up on the beach, or mainly used to go to docks. Aluminum hulls are extremely tough, but their major advantage is that they are significantly lighter without sacrificing strength. Decreased weight allows easier handling and better fuel economy.
