An electic starter is usually not seen on smaller outboards. You might want to consider it, though, if you are using the outboard where hand starting is awkward, such as in a high-sided sailboat or a fishing boat where the "kicker" is not easily accessible. As the motor gets to be larger, the sheer physical strength needed for hand starting becomes a major factor, and most people opt for electric start on motors above 15-18 HP. The other thing to keep in mind is that electric start motors usually provide for battery charging.
